NIS2 – Cybersecurity is now a management task

The EU’s NIS2 Directive aims to significantly enhance the cybersecurity of companies throughout the EU. Whereas only seven economic sectors were subject to supervision under the previous legislation, now companies in eighteen different sectors must provide evidence that they have taken comprehensive cybersecurity precautions. Violations are subject to sanctions, with managing directors potentially being held personally liable in certain cases. Companies need to achieve NIS2 compliance by 17 October 2024 at the latest.
