As part of the systematic expansion of its advisory expertise at the intersection of law, technology and the digital economy, GSK Stockmann has appointed Per Meyerdierks, a highly regarded expert in the field of data protection and technology law, as a new partner. He will be joining the firm’s Hamburg office on 1 May 2026, following more than 18 years in-house at Google, and will bring a wealth of expertise in the areas of data economy and digital regulation to the firm.
A seasoned expert at the interface of law and technology
Per Meyerdierks joined Google in 2007 and accompanied the tech giant on its rise from search engine pioneer to global technology and AI conglomerate, serving in various in-house legal roles for over 18 years. In doing so, he played a key role in shaping the legal framework under which Europe’s digital economy operates today. In his most recent position as Director of Privacy Legal, he was responsible for Google’s data protection strategy for cloud services, AI applications and data infrastructures and led teams of privacy lawyers responsible for the EMEA region, among others.
Meyerdierks has been heavily involved in key debates that have shaped EU data protection law. He is particularly experienced in the classification of new technologies under data protection law, GDPR implementation within global companies and providing legal support for cloud infrastructures and AI systems. He is the author of a practical guide on GDPR and regularly speaks at international data protection conferences. He is also a certified Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP).
A valuable addition to GSK Stockmann’s digital advisory team
By appointing Per Meyerdierks, GSK Stockmann is expanding its advisory portfolio to include more targeted legal support for companies undergoing digital transformation. The firm advises national and international clients on a wide range of matters, including the legally compliant implementation of artificial intelligence, the development of digital infrastructures and issues relating to the data economy, as well as compliance with EU regulatory frameworks such as the AI Act, the Data Act and the GDPR.
This advice is not solely aimed at technology companies. Meyerdierks will also support clients from traditional industries that are facing increasingly technology-driven business models and complex regulatory requirements. He will also be a valuable addition to GSK Stockmann’s data centre team, providing advice on the conclusion of cloud and hyperscaler contracts.
Dr Katy Ritzmann, Head of Corporate at GSK Stockmann: “We are very pleased to have Per Meyerdierks on board. He brings a wealth of expertise to our firm’s range of advisory services as an experienced practitioner in the fields of data protection, the data economy, cloud business, digital identities, eIDAS and AI. His many years of international experience at Google align perfectly with the planned growth of our Corporate practice. His appointment marks a major milestone for GSK Stockmann on its way to becoming a leading provider of advice on digital economy and digital transformation.”
Per Meyerdierks adds: “After almost two decades at a global tech firm, I have an in-depth understanding of the regulatory requirements facing such companies, from data protection to AI compliance and cloud infrastructure. At GSK Stockmann, I see an ideal opportunity to put this experience to good use advising companies on digital transformation.”
